Subject: PCC validity timelines
  Hi,
Without much knowledge on the process, I applied for PCC -INDIA two months back and recently found that I need to get FBI fingerprint result while submitting the application.Unfortunately, as I did not plan correctly, I am worried with the validity of Indian PCC as I hear it may take 9 weeks to receive FBI result.

To check on this, I was looking in to the PR forms and find that two different timelines for the PCC validity:

(1) Guide [IMM EG7000]

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/guides/EG7.pdf

Page 16 of 26:
Police certificates and clearances

You and your family members must provide us with a police certificate issued by the authorities of each country in which you have lived for six (6) months or more since reaching the age of 18. Certificates must be originals and issued within the last three months.

(2) Buffalo website:
http://www.dfait-maeci.gc.ca/can-am...&cat=68&did=398

All Police Certificates must have been issued within the last SIX MONTHS. Outdated Police Certificates will NOT be accepted.

Can experts throw somelight on the correct timeline for PCC validity - 6 or 3 months for Buffalo visa post?

Additional Note: CIC buffalo website still shows PCC for USA is not needed until instructed eventhough the Buffalo checklist changed last October.

Where are you applying from...

If you are applying at Buffalo then do not send your FBI certifiacte until asked for...

Anyways... PCC from India ay take some time but if you get it done at the consulate (provided you are staying abroad) then it will be faster.

FBI certificate can be sent later... so dont worry...

Hi Harshal,
I am applying from US via Bufflao post.
I believe the CIC policy for FBI fingerprint has changed since (CIC Buffalo checklist) as of Oct 2004 and I was not aware of this change (rather was stupid in not checking the CIC site frequently) till last week.
As I it might take even 9 weeks to get FBI result I am worried about the validity of my Indian PCC which I got 2 1/2 months back. That´s why asked about the PCC validity timeline.

Note: Buffalo website still reflects that FBI Fingerprint is not needed with the application. Hope they will keep it in sync with the forms/checklists as this really misleads applicants.
