Sad day yesterday, it might never know who bombed Aid Indian 20 years ago, killed 300 people on the airplane plus 2 luggage carrier in Tokyo. I have feeling somehow RCMP and CSIS had done something to cover up. They knew that plan gonna blow up, however~~~

Anyway, let??s keep watching the show.

You know what? If I watched survivor and thought they are so relativity show before I came to Canada. Shows like Sponsorship Scandal public inquire and Air Indian bomb investigation on the medias are even real, See how those people act?? Yijie:

Is this topic has any thing to do with the basic objective of this forum ?

Please respect peoples views / requests and do not post unrelated subject matters in this forum.

Most people have knowledge about what is going on around this world. So you need not keep all upadated with news unrelated to immigration issues.

How does it matter if the victims were immigrants, citizens or visitors ?

The main point is to keep immigration unrelated postings to minimum.

in many peoples minds (including mine), this was very much an immigration issue. Reason... people came to Canada and brought their home country´s business with them. As a result, the 350 immigrants/Canadians died, the country spent millions and millions of dollars plus almost 20 years trying to convict those responsible. Those that were aquitted used home country influences to silence witnesses.

It was a sad day for everyone- especially those families that have been waiting for justice.

Immigration is not just about the immigrant. It is also about how the host country deals with its newest Canadians.

I am not well agreed to Sharon. We can very well understand the sentiment of victim´s family members. Both the culprits and victims can be either immigrants, citizens or visitors. Also, This type of incidents can happen any where in the world. So how could we relate this with Canadian immigration system?

In a broader sense, you can relate any event/incident in Canada to the Immigration system !!! But is this logical ???

did 9/11 change US immigration policy? There are voices out there that would say people who are conducting homeland business on Canadian soil should never been let into the country- or at very least deported the minute they start -PR status or not. There are voices that say...shut the door, we do not need this kind of trouble. There are voices out there that look at this situation and say that Canada is not doing enough to screen immigration applicants. Now, is this about immigration?

BTW, what would be the reaction if such incidents are caused by native Canadians ? The blame will still go to the immigrants - right ??? Who knows, some may say that the natives are biased with the immigrants and shut the door for the immigrants !!!

a little more. Immigration has 2 players. The immigrant and the host country. The host country sets the rules as to how difficult it will be for the applicant to be successful. Canadian events and world events affect immigration policy. CIC policy is dictated by the government of the day. That government is elected by the people who read this weeks paper.

While Canadians want to be a welcoming society... they also want to be a peaceful society. We do not want immigration growth at any cost.

When the Canadian public opened the Vancouver newspaper this week they saw 4 front page stories - Air India suspects aquitted of charges after 20 years and millions of dollars in court costs; immigrant father found guilty of murdering his daughter over her romance with local boy; 2 immigrant boys fight deportation after killing a woman while they were street racing; new immigrants and biker gangs are the majority suppliers of BC´s marijuana supply.

Yes, these stories could be anywhere and be about anyone... but they are not. They are in our back yard and they are commited by people who have demonstrated no respect for the country that accepted and welcomed them. If you do not think these current events influence immigration policy and how easy or difficult it is for you to get your PR, then you need to think again.

if these crimes were commited by native Canadians, the general public would be equally angry and would request that the criminals be punished with the full extent of the law.

However, there is a subtle difference when a crime is committed by someone who asks permission to live in a country. There is a level of disappointment and betrayal that is added to the mix. It is like inviting someone for dinner and discovering at the end of the night they have gone home with all your silverware. Do you want to invite them back?
