Subject: Foreign worker/ HRDC hassle
  Hi again all,

Although I completed my grad Business studies in Canada but now I fall under Foreign worker category. I wanted to know from people who have HRDC related experience whether it is possible to get HRDC approval for Marketing, general management related jobs as I´ve heard that it´s very difficult to get HRDC approval except if it´s a technical job.

Hello,

yeah thats right, HRDC process is a very tedious process n its much easier to get the approval if your background is in the field of IT or Pharmaceutical,´coz one of my friend been into this process, he got rejected twice and finally after 9 months he cud obtain the HRDC confirmed work permit, he was in the Pharmacy field.

If you are looking for HRDC in marketing side than its better you forget abt it until n unless you have potential employer who is willing to share all his details to the HRDC.

Thanx for your reply Nivas...yupp HRDC route is a pain. First of all it´s so difficult to get a job offer and then one has to cross even bigger hurdle of HRDC. By the way what did u mean by willingness of company to share info with HRDC? According to my info all empployers have to furnish the same info as required in the std form and the decision depends on HRDC´s evaluation against the given criteria.

if you graduated from public institution, how comes you need HRDC? Once you got accept letter just apply work permit.

You don´t have to do HRDC process. I did it by myself.
from the new rules, graduated work permit can give you same points as HRDC employment arrangement in PR process.

Foreign Worker/HRDC Hassle (in reply to: Foreign worker/ HRDC hassle)
I am with an employer who has successfully hired a Foreign Worker with the appropriate HRDC clearance. Our position was a highly specialized technical position and, even though we knew there was no one in Canada with the qualifications, we were required to prove that we had tried to hire a Canadian person (we had to place national advertising for a specific period of time at our cost). In our case no one applied for the job so we could proceed from there. There is a cost to the employer, in other words, and for a position that is not highly specialized it would be difficult to prove that ´no one else in Canada´ can do the job.
