Subject: 5 Points claimed under adapatability factor
  Hi folks!!

I have been on valid study permit for more than 3 yrs in canada,i have applied for immigration at RPC buffallo having a total of 68 points in May 2004,AOR june 2004, IA Feb 2005, now my file is being transferred to Detroit n was scheduled for interview at the same.

I have claimed 5 points for 2 yrs of education in canada under adaptability factor, however i havent yet graduated in the program, well my question is

1)Are they gonna give me the 5 points irrespective of my passing/graduating in the program (OR) they are gonna consider only if i have completed n succesfully graduated in the program???

NEXT QUESTION

2) I havent submitted my IELTS scores, instead i gave them an evidence in writing proving my ability in the language, so do u think its gonna work out or do you guys suggest me to go for IELTS before the interview???

Any help would be appreciated :) Thanks!

You cannot "claim" any points. You only can do self assessment before you file your application.

You get whatever points your case gets awarded during IA.

As to the english test, if you are confident that you can convice the interviewer that you have the level of engish proficiency you claimed on your application, you´ll be fine.

As you have been called for an interview I suggest you order CAIPS notes.

The interview is basically to check your english ability as well as the adaptability in Canada...

You can claim whatever points you want but the final judgement remains in the hands of the CIC officer...

Anyways... 2 years fulltime education should fetch you therequired 5 points...

something to consider - CIC has become very emphatic that the interview is not designed to test your english skills. That is the entire point of providing test scores. Obviously, they will verifying what you claim about english, but you will not have any opportunity to defend the points they assign you.

Sharon,

I have heard from people asked for interview that it is an informal chat. Seldom have they ever brought any technical questions about your skills. Moreover I cannot imagine the officers to be conversant with all professions - so I´d say they are only looking at conversational factors and how confident an applicant is?

I don?t know about others ? please share your experience if you have been interviewed. Thanks.

I have heard of IT applicants being asked to demonstrate their ability to write in code. Obviously, the intention of the interview is to make sure documents submitted match the person being interviewd.

Wowww 10 year visitor visa (in reply to: 5 Points claimed under adapatability factor)
Really Nivas, did u get "10" years multiple entry visitor visa to US??? Is it normal, as I´ve never applied for one...if not, as I am guessing then what factor do you think got you that time frame? Generally countries give 6 months single entry.

Thanx for sharing.
