Subject: US Citizen married to immigrant
Hi, I´m a US citizen who started the US Green Card sponsorship for my husban 5 years ago. US immigration is not answering and he is now without a work permit here in the States. He has family in Canada and we are willing to move to Canada to have peace of mind. We are both educated individuals. My question is: Since his immigration status here in the US is not resolved, can we apply for a Canadian Permanent Residence without him having to go back to his country of origin?

Thanks,

Lilly

Out of Status in US, any possibility to move to Canada? (in reply to: US Citizen married to immigrant)
I am in a similar situation - I am a US citizen and my husband is a foreign national and out of status for a long time in USA. We haven´t even started applying for hos green card. Is it possible for my husband to apply for Canadian residencey (we qualify on the skilled class except for his status in US in question, he also has immediate family in Canada) or a student VISA? what obstacle we might face if we decide to move to Canada?
