Hi
Today March 27 2005 I found out that -of course- application processing time for "other relatives" increased from 20 to 21 months, since apparently Immigration is still opening applications sent by July 24 2003... Amazing, especially considering they have been doing that for at least 10 months now.
This increase in the processing time has been happening systematically and I?m so tired of this abuse. I?ve sent the papers for sponsoring my mother back in August 2003.
I thought today of calling someone in "media contacts" in the cic.gc website. Any ideas? Has anyone tried this before? Or writing to an editor of a newspaper? Is there anything anyone can do so that Mr. Volpe realizes there is such a huge and unfair gap between spouses and other relatives applications processing times? I´m so angry...

there is a group somewhere on this site that has formed a lobby group to deal with this issue. At the moment it looks like CIC has drastically reduced the number of parent applicants they are admitting. 5-6,000 per year is what I recall. Once they get to their quota I suspect they stop the processing - hence the stalled date.
there have been some lively discussions on this forum regarding CIC policy, and sponsorship. do a search and you can see what has been said to date.

I have submited parent Sponsorship Application on June 18th 2003. I called many times and each time I get different processing time: 10-12 months, 12-16 month, 16-20 months. As I called today (June 14th 2005), I was told the processing time would be reduced from coming month. Hope it is true. It is really a tiring processing procedure.
