Subject: To "Less worried husband", as always, your op. pls
  Hi,

She got the similar request as your wife. They require her passport(!), resume, birth certificate, the original marriage certificate and the copies of my passport pages.

One thing worries me a bit. With the accompanying general letter (not specifically addressed to her) it says: ´Application for permament residence in Canada in the immigrant category in which you have applied currently require APPROXIMATELY 6-9 MONTHS to process at this office´. I find it at bit too long than the usual one which is 80% within 4 months. Has your wife received the same letter? What´s your opinion on this? If they´re asking for her passport, it´s pretty positive, but why this letter and those long months?

Thanks

My wife received exactly the same letter, and we reacted exactly the way you reacted. So I suppose they send the same letter to everybody. I imagine that they do not want to be bothered before 6 to 9 months at which time your wife will be with you in Canada.

Your wife´s case is exactly like mine. When they ask for the passport the only reason I can think of is that they expect to issue the visa. Of course, we need to send them all the documents they ask for.

So, I am sure you don´t need to worry. Everything will be fine and will go fast.

Keep us informed. I want to rejoince with you.

Thank you for your support. I am just curious how is your wife adapting to her new country? Please forgive me if it sounds a bit too intrusive, it´s just something my wife will face once she comes over here. I want to be as supportive and understanding as possible. I thought, it won´t hurt to know what challenges someone in exactly her situation faces so that I would be prepared.

Thanks.
