from experience I know that it is virtually impossible for a single male to get a visitors visa. Way too many reasons to stay in Canada rather than go home and end of visa.

and sadly... because of country of origin, life can be difficult as well.

does that mean it´s hard for single to apply PR?
I applied in single, no family member, no commom law, partner.

who knows?

no. your country of origin is not likely on a watch list and you are currently in Canada as a student. Your background check might take a few days longer than someone with a family... but I think you will be just fine. :)

Aah.. I get it.

Well I´d assume if you get a FBI clearance and one from your home country then it should help.

I had heard that FBI has one of the biggest background check database.

However it is matter of policy and I agree for CIC to take it´s time to make sure the person is all clear.

Yijie (Departure Bay) you should not have any problem with staying in Canada. You are from a country that does not raise RED FLAGS. There are some countries that will take much longer to get any paperwork from since they are deemed "risky". Risky is my word but you know what I mean.

It is true that single males have trouble getting visitor visas. I have seen it with my own eyes. I was at the Canadian Embassy in Warsaw, Poland waiting for my wife to get a visitor´s visa and I saw 4 men come out rejected. Women, couples and families have less trouble getting visitor visas.

Good luck to Yijie, Sharon and everyone else here.
If we are patient and relax, it will make the waiting much easier. Don´t choose to get upset with the CIC. Understand that it is a government office and takes time. Find an interesting hobby and stay away from e-client and these forums if you´re the type of person who is a bit edgy and jittery.

Try to forget about the process and get on with your life. SPRING is here....be happy.

I know it is hard because I´m still waiting and am trying to live life. I hope to hear something soon but do not want to get stressed out over it.
