In order to work as an engineer in Canada you must possess a P´Eng (a license to work as an engineer). The US does not use this system. The P´Eng is granted by a private provincial engineering organization. Without a Canadian university degree they are next to impossible to get. My husband has a MSc in Engineering and cannot work here. You are not told this on the immigration forms from the government as the government has nothing to do with the professional associations. I am a Canadian and am quite disgusted with the way many foreign professionals come to Canada and then cannot work in their field. My husband and I are probably going to the states so he can work.
