Subject: sponsoring my wife and baby girl
  Hi everyone.

I´ve been here in canada since november 20, 2004 only. I have my S.I.N. and my Permanent Residency Card. I am currenty making $20-25,000 a year and I´m dying to sponsor my wife and lovely daughter..

I came here with my mom (primary sponsor), stepdad, and half-bro. They´re from the United Arab Emirates and I´m from the Philippines. When my mom submitted the application sometime on 2002, she doesnt know that I already have a common law wife (I married my wife just 1 week before I moved here in Canada) and a kid so basically my mom declared that I am "single".

I was reading the Sponsor´s Guide from the CIC website and that is we´re I noticed my potential problem. Read on..

--"All family members of a would-be immigrant, whether accompanying or not, must be examined. If
you previously made an application for permanent residence and became a permanent resident of
Canada, your family members who were not examined in accordance with Canadian Immigration
Regulations at the time you made your application, are excluded from the family class and you
may not sponsor them." -cic

Take note that I am single (coz im not yet married with my wife at that time) when the application was made and I just married my wife one week before moving here. I am now a Permanent Resident but my wife and kid is not included when my mom applied. Again "family members who were not examined in accordance with Canadian Immigration
Regulations at the time you made your application, are excluded from the family class and you
may not sponsor them."

Does that mean I cannot sponsor my family?

Im so depressed....

I am no expert but it looks like you can not sponsor them. You should have at least informed CIC of your marriage.
You may need a lawyer for this one.

Best of luck

Thanks for the reply, is it too late to inform the CIC now? But like I´ve said, I just married my wife one week before moving here in Canada meaning we´re not married yet when my application was mad and eventually approved.

Inform them of the change....... it can´t hurt but I think by not telling them you were married one week before you landed, you misrepresented yourself and now you should hire a lawyer to help you. You could lose your PR by misrepresenting yourself. Explain to CIC what happened. Maybe they will be kind and understand.

Good luck
