Subject: IELTS Exam |
My test date is April 16th. Is 16 days enough for me to prepare for this. All my life I studied in English medium and been in USA for 6 years now. Let me know. Also whats the score required to gain max (16 points) overall in IELTS. What band should I score.

(in reply to: IELTS Exam) welcome to the club man . i was raised in the states and i thought that the ilets exam is gonna be a peice of cake .. but eventually i got total band of 7 , 6 in reading 7 in both written and listening and an eight in the interview ..
but unfortunatly they dont care about the total band . each one is on its own .. so i got 14 not 16
so below seven you get 2 points and above seven you get the 4 .. so in my case i just needed the 6 to be a 7 :) so i am gonna do it again ..
but just dont be cocky ;) thats my advice to you .. and as easy as it may seem . take care man .. in the exam i mean .. not because you stayed in america then ur perfect .. and good luck :)

(in reply to: IELTS Exam) i took my IELTS exams two months ago and i got a over all band score of 7.5 i.e 7.5 in listening,7.0 in reading, 7.0 in writing and 8 in speaking. In my opinion two weeks of hard work would be enough.Just go to cambridge university website and buy books on listening and reading section and practice hard.i am sure, u will no problems in getting a good score. And also, i hope u r taking the general test and not the academic.

(in reply to: IELTS Exam) Forewarned is forearmed. IELTS is fairly straight-forward
but pls do not make the mistake of going unprepared. If
you have a British Council near you, contact them for
preparatory books on the exam. I bought 2 books from them
and they helped me immensely in that I knew what to expect
as far as the layout of the exam was concerned.
One other thing - time-management is extremely critical in the exam. I lost out on the reading and writing aspects because of poor time-management (my own fault). My overall
band score was 8.
You need to aim for 7 or above in all 4 areas in order to
score the maximum of 16 points for first-language
proficiency. You can find more info on this from CIC´s
website.
Good luck.
