Subject: Spousal sponsorship
Someone has mentioned in the earlier postings regarding spousal sponsorship that their case was approved in 3 months (Buffalo-spouse in US), and that they didn?t even receive a letter stating whether they do or do not need an interview. All they got was AOR followed in 3 months by PP request. Anybody else with similar experience? For my husband and me it?s been 2 months now since AOR received, so when can we expect something from them?

Hi Anita,

I meant to reply to your post in the other thread sooner, but each time I typed up my response my browser crashed just as I was about to post it.

Anywho as to when you can expect to receive something from the Buffalo RPC, it will ultimately depend on the difficulty of your husband´s PR application. With mine, I was extremely surprised that I received my passport request so quickly then again my application was extremely straight forward. My husband and I had no previous marriages, neither of us have any children, I only lived in one state my entire life, I didn´t need to undergo any additional medical exams, and we included a lot of proof of our relationship (chatlogs & emails from when we first met until we got married, pictures from visits, pictures from our wedding/wedding reception and honeymoon, and one of our wedding invites).

The majority of the processing time with PR applications, I believe, is with background checks...so if your husband´s background checks are fairly easy to get done (i.e - he hasn´t lived in very manys for 6+ months and he has no criminal records) I would think you should be hearing from CIC sometime in either May (or June at latest). However, I may very well be wrong.

While my application was still in process I was part of a group on Yahoo that focused on spousal class sponsorship cases. A lot of other people on the group had timelines similar to mine, but there were others whose timelines were longer...so it does tend to vary from person to person. It is because of that variation that it is hard to say for sure when you will hear something, but hopefully you & your husband will receive word from them soon.

Just for reference here is my timeline:

July 3, 2004 - Applications received by the Mississauga CPC.
August 6, 2004 - Mississauga sent a letter to my husband stating he was approved as my sponsor. My PR application was forwarded to Buffalo for processing.
October 6, 2004 - Buffalo RPC sent out my acknowledgement of receipt.
Early Decemeber - My application status finally appeared on E-Client.
Decemeber 22, 2004 - Buffalo RPC sent out letter requesting my passport.
January 13, 2005 - sent my passport to Buffalo. I got it back on February 2nd.

I will hopefully be landing sometime in the next 2 weeks *fingers crossed*

Thanks Mel,

I think I emailed you earlier when we were just getting started with mailing our application, and you were also very helpful and encouraging then. Our case is very similar to yours in that we haven´t been married to other people, medical is ok, no children, all fees paid, state and national clearance incluede, and the only difference is that while he is living in the States he is not from there not is he a citizen or green card holder. He has also lived in one European country, from which we also have police clearances and proof of his citizenship. I´m expecting something within a month, either in a form of an interview request/waiver or with God´s help a PP request.
Thanks again and I wish you happy landing :)

to jaam,

if you medicals were sent from the start, why is it that they received the results in February? WHy so long? Are they(hospital or clinic) waiting for immigration´s request?

I am not really sure why they are taking so long since i sent all my paper work at once way back in september 2004, For sure in Feb 2005 thats when my E-client changed to "medical results have been recieved" I am not sure but thought pp request follows shortly after that has been added on. I have paid RPRF back in Feb....Can some body please brief me.

jaam,

E-Client is not very reliable. They don´t update it very regularly, so it is likely that they received your medical results before February. For example, my e-client was updated with "Medical Results Received" at the same time they changed it from "In Process" to "Decision Made"...and that change was made roughly 2 weeks AFTER I had already received my passport request.

As for not hearing anything from them since paying your RPRF, I don´t think that anything is wrong. If I remember correctly, in the Family Class Sponsorship immigration guide it mentioned that applications would/may be delayed a minimum of three months if Right of Permanent Residence Fee wasn´t paid before the application was submitted. Given that, I would assume you´ll probably receive your passport request sometime in May.

To jaam,

Here´s my timeline:

June 30, 2004 - completed applications sent to the Mississauga CPC
July 3, 2004 - applications received by Mississauga
August 6, 2004 - letter sent from Mississauga informing my husband he was approved as my sponsor and that my PR application was forwarded to Buffalo for processing
October 6, 2004 - Buffalo RPC sent out Acknowledgement of Receipt containing my file number (they began processing my application on October 5)
December 22, 2004 - Buffalo RPC sends out passport request letter stating they finished processing my application and need me to send in my passport in order to finalize that application
January 6, 2005 - sent my passport to Buffalo for visa stamping
January 21, 2005 - got my passport back

My husband and I paid all the fees upfront (including Right of Permanent Residence) so we wouldn´t have to worry about Buffalo asking for them at a later time.

I haven´t landed yet, but I am planning on doing so sometime this month.
