Subject: Waiting for Labor Cert and Save my PR
I recently got approved for Canadian PR. I am currently holding H1B visa in the US. I have a feeling that my labor cert will soon be approved as well. I know that in order to save my PR I have to actually land in to Canada and stay there until I got my green card. Does anybody know how long do I have to stay in Canada and can come back to US in order to maintain my H1 B visa?

do you want to live in the US or in Canada? if it is the US, why not have some respect for the legitimate applicants and revoke your PR. you are taking someones spot in line.

sorry if I sounded harsh in my last post. Canada is trying to let as many immigrants into the country as possible and I keep reading about those who are using Canada as their backup plan or wanting to be in the country as little as possible. I see both situations a detrimental to the entire purpose of our immigration policy so it really rubs me the wrong way.

no intention to offend.

You already offended them (in reply to: Waiting for Labor Cert and Save my PR)
It is good that you realized so early. Some mothe***** do not realize for whole life when they express their negative of judgemental emotions towards immigrants.

Sounds funny....

Everybody works for ones best interests, whether its applicants trying to enter Canada expecting good standard of living or its the Canadian govt. trying to get qualified immigrants for it´s economic interests.

I do not think after getting PR any immigrant affects those who are in the line (like me).

Robinhood... there is a quota. if a spot goes to someone who is only ´thinking about Canada´ then the spot is taken away from the person who legitimately wants to make Canada home. If this applicant is the last one allowed in for 2005... you wait an extra year.

Hey Sharon,

I don´t think it works this way..umm I seem to remember reading some stats which showed fluctuations in the immigrant volume each year. Yes, a person who is undergoing PR process does consume his part of time from the limited time available with the system (CIC). But looking at the big picture of life one should not blame an individual. Everybody has a right to choose...we should not judge whether a person´s reason to immigrate is more important or less.

Don´t worry your special guy would be on his way soon. Have you planned for the life after his arrival? :))

Instead of critisicing others who have a right to choose and may be in situations we can not accurately determine, why not concentrate on the original question, if you have an answer then give it, or else keep your negative criticism to yoursel...that was for Sharon..i say with all due respect, Sharon,...you get the idea..keep it shut..

now regarding the original question, depending on when you applied for canadian immigraiton, your case might have a different PR status maintenance requirements. They should have mentioned the requirements on your approval doc. I will tell you what they mentioned on my paperwork.

It stated, you got to be in Canada for 2 years in a span of every 5 years. They do not explain this in further detail, but it probably means, once you land in Canada, you can go back to US, or Mexicao, or London or wherever you live, but makesure, you are back within 3 years, and which will allow you to fulfil the PR requirements, provided you end up staying in Canada for the following 2 years. That way, in the span of 5 years sicne your landing, you fulfilled the requirements i.e 2 years every 5.

Some people (sharon) might have a problem with that, but hey if they got a problem, then you should probably ignore it. I have heard, most candadians are really nice and considerate....give or take one or two bad apples..
