Subject: PR Stay requirements
My papers state that you need to live in Canada for atleast 2 years in a span of 5 years to maintain your Permanent Residency status. I suppose, if I fail to do so, I end up loosing my residency.

Now, if you know someone or have been through a situation where you ended up living outside for more that 3 years in the span of 5 years, thus failing to fulfil the PR requirements, please let me know what were the ramifications. Do they or will they strcilty enforce the rule, or will they be lenient and allow you to be in Canada, say if you are back after 3.5 years or 4 years..thus staying away for extra 6 months to a year.

PS. Please refrain from commenting, how one should only apply if one wants to stay etc...

I don´t want to sound too technical on this question. If they embedded a chip in PR cards to record entry dates to Canada, how can they find out how long you stayed abroad if they don´t scan your PR card during your exit out of Canada? (I heard there is no immigration check/counter on departure from Canada. Pls. correct me if I´m wrong.)
