| Subject: My bank draft has been cashed |

The other day I posted that I had sent my application to sponsor my wife six weeks ago and have not heard anything yet. Today I got confirmation from the bank that my draft was cashed on March 2nd. This, I assume, means that at least they won?t be returning my package because I haven?t filled it in correctly.
So here?s my timeline so far:
Feb 21 application received by CPC-M
Mar 2 bank draft cashed
I?m still nervous as to what?s taking so long for a letter to be sent to me. Most people receive one within a month. Amy mentioned that it sometimes takes a bit longer when applying from overseas (I?m in Korea). I guess I still have toenails I can chew off while I wait. I?ll feel a lot better when (if) I get a letter stating that I have been approved as a sponsor.

Amy is most likely correct. It´s only logical to assume that it would take the Mississauga CPC a little longer to determine if a Canadian living abroad is eligible to act as a sponsor for their spouse/partner. This is most likely due to the fact that Canadians applying to sponsor someone while living abroad can´t submit an Option C printout (which is somewhat like a Notice of Assessment). Another thing that may delay it is they have to determine whether or not they believe the person applying to be a sponsor will actually return to Canada once their spouse/partner´s receive permanent resident status. And then of course there´s the mailing time. All the correspondence my husband and I received from CIC came through the regular mail...so sometimes it took 4-7 business days for us to receive anything they sent (and we live in Ontario). It prolly take close to 2-3 weeks for to get from the Mississauga CPC (in Ontario) to you & your spouse in Korea via regular mail.
I would think you´ll most likely hear from them before the end of this month (possibly even before that).
