Subject: My experience on caips notes
  Friends:

I received my caips notes today and found that every thing other than the security checks are completed long time ago. They could have finalised my case on Jan 18, 05 (my last bf´d). The delay is only because of security checks.

I was not asked to submit RCMP fingerprint clearances and never submitted. My caips notes clearly indicates that based on RCMP name search fingerprint clearance was not asked.

As I live in Canada, I had applied for caips notes under privacy act and did not pay $5 fee. I sent the application by regular mail. Starting from the date I mailed my caips application to the date I received the notes, it took me exactly 31 days.

I am feeling a lot more comfortable now because atleast I know every thing about my application. No worry about medicals, RCMP fingerprints, missing docs, ROLF encash bla bla.. Now, it is only the security checks and I am done.

Here is my timeline:

Jan 2004 AOR Buffalo applicant
Sept 2004 Med, docs, ROLF

What is the address in Canada you used to mail your caips application?

Hi Kool,

I agree with you. Getting CAIPS notes usually lets you feel better. In my case, getting CAIPS also assured me not all delays are because of security checks. In my case the government agency which is conducting the security check had asked CIC for my background information and they asked those info a few months later. A delay that could never happen. So, based on my understanding from CAIPS, if your case is getting abnormally long you are likely to have a lazy officer. Unfortunately, you cannot do anything at all but wait if something like that happens to you.
