Hello everyone
Finally CIC buffalo, requested our passports for the visa stamp. We (me and my family) are planning to land within six months. I would like to start looking for a home and make the closing etc, once I am in BC. I would greatly appreciate any information, tips or referral. We are interested in 3 bedrooms apartment or single-family house that should not be very far form the University of BC.
Thank you for your help

(in reply to: real estate question (BC-vancouver)) Any specific reasons for choosing B.C. as your destination?
Coz I´ve opted for Edmonton.

(in reply to: real estate question (BC-vancouver)) 3 bedroom apartments are quite rare. renting a house might be a better option but Immigration guy is correct, you are looking at one of the most expensive areas in the city. schools are excellent in that area, but a little on the snobby side.
something to consider - if you are wanting to attend UBC without needing a car... consider housing that is serviced by the Broadway B line bus. http://www.translink.bc.ca/default.asp
the B-line is designed to service UBC. it is regular and reasonably priced. a 30 minute bus ride would save you $1,000 per month in rent.

real estate question (in reply to: real estate question (BC-vancouver)) Thank you for your replies. Thank you Sharon for your advice. Khan, I choose BC since my wife will be enrolling at UBC graduate program and I am in the basic research business, so my best chance for a job will be at the University.

(in reply to: real estate question (BC-vancouver)) if you want to attend ubc, just apply dorm,
300dollars/month, including internet, kitchen(sharing), washroom(sharing), phone.

(in reply to: real estate question (BC-vancouver)) I think you are bringing some kids with you? dorm life is not the best solution even though living on campus would be very convenient. I suspect there is a huge waiting list as well.

(in reply to: real estate question (BC-vancouver)) Yes Sharon, Dorm is out of the question. First I have three Kids, secondly I am not a student. However, if the public transportation is good, we don´t have to live by the University. I am doing my homework now and hopefully I will find a reasonable place
