Subject: Helpneeded for overstayed visitor wanting to leave
I have been overstayed in Canada for 8 months. My visitor visa expired last year.
Right now I am planning to leave Canada for my home country.

But I heard a rumor that overstaryed visitor will have to pay large anout of fine for violating immigration law.
Is it true?

What will happen before I boarding the airplane?
Will they check my passport and say "You must be arrested"?

May anyone provide any information the consequense?

thanks.

if you are leaving volunarily, I think you have nothing to worry about. if CIC has to come and find you - I think that is where the problems begin.

Sharon is right. If you are going out willingly and there is not enforcement order agianst you. No body will check your passport going out from Canada. Don´t worry.

I believe there won´t be any problem in your departure as there is no passport check by CIC offcials at the airport...BUT, I am not sure if they exchange passenger data with the airlines/ airport database. If they do (although it sounds vv. tedious) then there is a chance you might face some problem the next time u wanna enter Canada.

Say what people?

No Robinhood,I agree with Sharon, according to my knowledge Canada demands the lists of arrivals but not the departures, so don´t be scared my dear just leave before it is too late for you to do it voluntarily .

I suspect that passenger lists are shared with CIC. How, when and why - not sure that we are supposed to know those things. The most important factor here is that our poster intends to leave on his own accord. This is honourable and his intention makes life easier for all who wish to visit Canada in the future.

Thank you all very much!

It almost scared me to death when someone told me that I would probably be fined 500 dollars for each day overstaying.

I feel so much releaved right now!
I can finally start to pack my package, thank you all again!

Airlines lines share Canada only arrivals lists Sharon, I´m sure I´ve read this when I made my online reservation on British airways .
