Subject: I am on a work permit, My family cant come
  Hi All,

I am a Software Developer working in Vancouver since 11/Feb. My wife & daughter applied for Visitor Visa 2 times and it got refused. while we are fulfilling what they require in all. But still it is refused i can´t understand. As they are my immediate dependents they must be allowed.

Can anybody advice me?

Thanks

Vikas

when you accepted your work permit (only 2 months ago) did you assume your family could join you? that is not the case.

I am going to pretend I am an immigration officer for one minute.

There is nothing to convince me that your wife and child will not remain in Canada with you until your work permit is complete. There is also nothing that tells me that all of you will not remain illegally in Canada once your permit expires. It is too great a risk for the Government of Canada.

Sorry my friend, I think you are out of luck on this one.

Ok does it mean that they wants to keep Family members apart. When i am here on a Work permit earning $ defi means i will take care of them & their trip.
Why they think that only the person who is on Work permit should come and not their families?
How can one convince them they will go back ? Just by putting them in some words that they will go back certainly never works . There must be some way to covince those people.

when you applied for your work permit... there is a question that asked if your family would be coming to Canada with you. what did you answer?

if you said no, then your wife and daughter are subject to exactly the same rules that everyone else is that visits Canada. They must come as visitors and she does not get any special treatment because she is your wife. In fact that reality makes your situation even more difficult because CIC would assume your wife will not return home.

Dude,

I really don´t understand why you all don´t think of these issues when you come? You came all by yourself - did you not think that there is going to be a potential problem for your wife to come later.

Even if we go by your argument; well let us just see - you have just come to Canada. How much money have you made to support your wife and kid if any unfortunate medical issues were to come up - leave aside the staying back part. To them it makes more economic sense to deny visa and have you visit them back home if you want to.

Well on the other note - why don´t you apply for PR since you are working and should have it worked out faster for you.

Sharon,

What u said is exactly right. i said no there bcz i understood with that they are not accompanying me at that time but never meant that they wont follow me.
But i did this mistake.
You know a lot about all this i believe.
Now my Visa could be get extened by company. But i think it wud be better i let my Visa expired rather extended & i should go back to my country before it expires and I shd apply for work permit again including Visa for my family too.
So My Q. are :
Will it work ? What do u think ?
Are embassy people dont hesitate then to give it to my family?
Will it be a problem to get Work Visa for the same company again rather than get it extended within Canada? As i am a permanent employee of company.

Thanks for your support,

Vikas

I think your best bet is what that 5-star man suggested: apply for PR NOW and hang out till it is done. In the PR application you can say all about your immediate family and once you get it, your family can arrive. By then you may also have enough money to accommodate your family. Being inside Canada, you may take 1-1.5 years, which is not that much of a wait. In the US, it could be 5-6 years! You should have VERY CLEARLY advised the embassy in your application for work visa that your family WILL follow you SOON. I just got my work visa and am aware there is room to indicate details about your family... Now it just becomes facilitative interpretation and all that jazz. Mind you, Canada´s drive to unite families is limited to their citizens, not the visitors!
