Subject: Help Security Checks
  Hello everybody:

I´m a Buffalo Jan 2004 applicant.

I got my caips notes today. It appears to me that the delay is only because of incomplete security checks.

Electronic background checks for my wife and myself were initiated on Nov 19, 04. They got the necessary info about myself on Nov 29, 04, just within 10 days. However, they are still waiting (about 5 months now) for security check results for my wife. Actually, my wife was born and brougt up in just one city in India before coming to Canada.

1. What could be the possible reason for this delay ?
2. Is it possible that the security check request or the results are lost somewhere ?
3. Is there any way that I can make the things move ?

Any advise would be highly appreciated.

If the delay was caused by security reason, there is no way to expediate your case. Just be patient and wait. BTW,where did you get the information like when the security check initated and when it was finalized. IS there any handwriting from imm officer on your CAIP notes?

Can you please share your time-line?

I´m a Buffalo Jan 2004 applicant myself. I just want to know when the CIC possibly initiates the security checks (after getting the medicals or simultaneously as they request medicals). I ordered my CAIPS notes last week and have not received them,

Thanks,

As I posted earlier, CAIPS processing will take about a month. In my case, the comments made by the immigration officer are so clearly entered that there is no difficulties in interpreting them. There is no hand written note by the officer, but the date of security checks are clearly entered electronically.

BTW, I have got 84 points.

hi
wish that your case will not take the same time as mine. I applied in april 2001, medicals and interview waiver in september 2001. they did security check on me in November 2001, but still until today they tell me that they are waiting for my wife background check with the FBi here in US. I do not believe that should take that long, so I am trying every possible avenue to see what happining with my case.
again wish you all the luck and hope your case will not take the same time as mine.
so far, my application is 48 months old. but during that waiting I earned a master degree and about to finish my PhD.

mr unfortunate:

It is really surprising to know the time they are taking for security checks. Compared to your, my waiting is not even the beginning. The sad part is we do not have any control over this. As I lived in various places, I was expecting a possible delay for my case, but my wife´s case was really staight forward. She was born and brought up at one city in India.

BTW, where are you originally from. I hope your file will be looked at soon (?).
