Subject: Jan 04 Applicant - Caips help
  Dear fellas,
I just received my caips file for the second time. I can understand most part of it but dont have any clue about some other stuff in my file. FYI, i applied in Jan 04, got IA in Oct 04, sent medical and all other docs, along with ROLF in NOV. 04.
My Caip file shows that they received my medical, ROLF and all other docs they requested with IA. Although it is mentioned that they received my medical but MEDEC still has 0 instead of 1. On the medical status sheet it is written M 01 H 1 D 1 T1 S1 E1. It means that i passed all the medical tests? Also on the same sheet there is something that says:
" IMS- visa notified on 07 Dec 2004, Case status "assessed M01", What does it mean?

Also they have changed the Bf´d date tp 17-03-2005. It was 13-01-2005 in my earlier caips file.

The SEC CRIM parameter shows 3. Does it mean that the background checking is still pending?

All the other fields like BDEC OREQ MEDEC and FINDEC carry a 0 which means pending, right?

Also they are two other lines that says:
1. Referral electronically sent for PI
2. Requested Stop information
What does it mean?

I would really appreciate if somebody can help me decode the abobe mentioned stuff.
Thanks and best regards,
Asif

1. "M01" is the best thing that might happen. This means that your medicals are ideal. The reason you have 0 in front of MEDEC is that the officer has not updated your notes yet. Do not worry you are fine.

2. BF´d is a date that the officer will check your file just to make sure it has not left unattended. It does not mean that there will not be any action on your file until then.

3. "Referral" is usually your information which is sent to another government agency for further consideration. It can be either your background/security check (which is done outside CIC and is out their control) or background check (a check for your credentials, e.g. education, work experience and ...).

4. "Requested Stop information" is a term used for the information that CIC or other government agencies require for further processing of application. When this happens usually they will ask you to provide them with the missing information. The processing of your application is stopped until they receive the requested information. If you have already sent the requested information and they have not mentioned in your CAIPS that the info has not been received yet, you are fine. Just wait for a few more months ;)

IMS- visa notified on 07 Dec 2004, Case status "assessed M01" means your medical file forwarded from Ottawa was uploaded to your file in Buffalo on this date.

´Referral´ is usually a request to verify your educational and work credentials.

´B CHECK send electronically´ is usually referred to initiation of security checks.

Kool,

Referral or B Check both can be used for background/security check they do not have a fixed term for these two. I did my medicals 10 moths ago and there is no line in my CAIPS says B CHECK sent for me, but I have to pass the background/security check for sure.
