Subject: Med/Pregnant/No X-ray/How to use the valid one?
Hi, all

Received medical instru. from BUFFALO. we did except chest x-ray for my wife because she is 2-months pregnant. But she has a valid medical exam that was done in july 2004 in canada. How can I use the chest x-ray?

Please reply me anyone knows. Thanks.

Hi,

All I can tell you is that from what I read in the official Canadian immigration instructions about this issue is that they will accept a X-ray that was done within 6 months before pregnacy. If that falls within the range for you I would see if the doctor you had your exams with can make interpretation and send results to CIC based on that X-ray.
Good luck and let me know what happens. I plan on taking a ´preventive X-ray´ in the next couple months cause we´ll trying to have a little one soon:)

hi,

thanks for your kind input. i called the Ottawa Medical Officer CIC, and was told that it is valid one year, and the doctor in CIC have the right to accept the previous one, or request to take a new one, so for my case, they may or may not accept the last year´s result.
i could not find they mention 6 months before pregnant? can you show me?

thanks lot.

hi there. i had my medical exam last nov. 2004 and during that time i was 3 months pregnant. i was in a dilemma too during that time coz i know that if you dont get your complete medical exam it will delay the processing of your papers. What I know is it depends on the Designate Medical doctor if they will order it for you or not, I talked with my doctor during that time and told her that even if i sign a waiver that will give them release of responsibility as long as i have my xray done as i dont want to wait till i give birth for them to have it done. she told me its okay and usually its the xray tech that has a problem with that as they are scared to be sued just in case something wrong comes up later on, but she told me that just in case the xray tech will not do it for that tech to call her, but they did do it because they will put a shield anyhow and the chest area is so far from your lower belly. so if i were you just try talking to the designated doctor that you are going to and explain the situation, yes you can use the previous one but remember that the med validity is only for a year. I got my pr last march 2005 and landed just last april 12 and I am 35 weeks pregnant now(:
