Subject: a question for experts! a difference in name.... |
|
|
|
I got my visa today! I am really happy! but I have little query which i wanna ask the experts! Now, my passport does not state my surname and it just gives my given names:
Thats how it is :
Passport
Surname ---- (blank)
Given names ---- A__ S__
now, my visa and COPR state the following
Surname ---- S__
Given Names ---- A__ So__
the So__ is my mother´s maiden surname..
So, there is a difference in the COPR and visa name and the Passport name!! they have actually made my 2nd name as my surname and added my mother´s maiden surname to my first name..
can u tell me if this would cause a trouble! there are no spelling mistakes or anything and the DoB is also correct, so is my passport number and the place of birth.
wat is noteworthy here is that this was the name as they had put on my sponsorship application initially (though I had written the name on the application according to my passport, with no surname) ! I thought that the visa would come according to my passport name, but it didnt!
now, tell me at to do pls....
Do I need to send it back for rectification?? and if I dont send it, do u think it will cause a problem at the port of entry? or can it be rectified at the port of entry?
pls help
ur advice would be helpful.

(in reply to: a question for experts! a difference in name....) I wish I were an expert who could give you a definitive answer, but all I can offer is that I saw a similar query on another site where there were spelling errors in the names as well as a date of birth inaccuracy on the visa. The immigration lawyer who replied to the post said that the errors could be rectified at the port of entry.
I hope it all works out for you.

(in reply to: a question for experts! a difference in name....) Send the passport back with a letter explaining what you do here and ask them to re-issue you a visa with correct spellings.
Unfortunately, you may pass the visa post - however each time you go for any govt. work done they are going to refer to your passport and may not be willing to do things unless you have a letter of explaination. I mean why go through all that hassel - just have them do the visa again.
Remmember to send pictures again and possibly a copy of the original letter from embassy for passport request.
