Subject: Marrying foreigner in Canada
  Hi!

I am a Canadian (born & raised). My fiance is German. We want to get married but I do not want to marry in Germany .. so we have agreed to have the civil (legal) marriage in Ontario and then have the ´church´ wedding in Germany. Are there any special requirements to marry a foreign national in Ontario? Or is it really as simple as filling in the application forms?

His company is willing to transfer him to a Canadian facility, after we are married, so the immigration piece is going to be covered off. I just require information on the requirements and process to get married in Ontario ... to a German citizen!

Regards,

DB

Since you are Canadian and you live here, you just apply for a marriage license and off you go.

It´s easy, I´ve done it a month ago.
Just have to apply for a mariage licence a the city hall (for that your passports/ driver´s licence) are required. It´s done in 30 mn.
Them you´ll have to have the ceremony performed if you only want a civil wedding. Town hall don´t perform weddings anymore (I was confused with that, cause in France it´s only the town hall for civil weddings), so you´ll have to pick someone in Yellow Pages.
Good luck!

candian citizen marrying an algerian (in reply to: Marrying foreigner in Canada)
I am a Canadian Citizen and want to marry an Algerian. I would like to be married in Ontario. Is a letter of invitation necessary for this? Will he be allowed to come to Canada on a TRV to be married in Ontario, or will I have to go to Algeria? I can´t seem to get an answer. I am prepared to sponsor him to come to Canada on an immigrant visa after we find out where and how on earth it´s possible for us to be married.

Marrying a British citizen (in reply to: Marrying foreigner in Canada)
Hello! My boyfriend and I would like to get married but information for us seems to be limited and we don´t know where to turn! If we get married, does he become a Canadian citizen? We also read something about having to be co-habiting for 12 months prior to wedding? Is this true?

marrying a bahamian (in reply to: Marrying foreigner in Canada)
i am a 100% First Nations Canadian and I would like to marry a Bahamian sometime next month..To what I understand Do we just fill out the marriage licence together before getting married? Then he becomes Canadian promptly? As soon as we are married? IF so can he find work a.s.a.p?

My sister is marrying a foreigner (in reply to: Marrying foreigner in Canada)
I need any infor I can get. My sister is in belguim and getting married to her boyfriend who is from Nigira and she wants to come back to live in Canada. He has been denied a visa 3 times from canada.I have looked into it and the is no reason he should have been denied. She is going to go and live with him if he does not get into canada. And they would rather get into canada. So if anyone knows a easy way to do this couse we have just got the run around. Paper work is going threw for us to sponser him but I dont know how that is going to work and we are running out of ideas.
