| Subject: Why is FBI Cert Taking This Long? |

I called FBI customer number and they said it´s taking up to 10+ weeks to obtain FBI clearance nowadays. Buffalo only gave me 90 days (from the IA date in the letter) to submit all requested documents which includes FBI clearance. I received the Buffalo IA letter 18 days after they wrote it. That means I may not be able to provide them FBI clearance until the 90th day of the IA letter. Do you think Buffalo-RPC will refuse my application because of that? My medical is done and result has been sent to Ottawa.

That is no problem. Simply collect all other documents. If the PCs have
not come by the deadline, go ahead and submit the rest of the documents and
indicate that the PCs are "to follow" on the coverletter. Then submit the
PCs (in one package) when you get them.

Thanks Olek. But IA letter explicitly mentions that I should send all documents together. If I send them in ´installment´ it will delay the processing of my case according to the same letter.

That´s how I dit and I got my PPR 3 days ago:-) Actually that´s what my lawer told me to do...

FBI just shows their incompetence. It would probably take them 10 weeks to find out that some finger print matches the one of a terrorist´s.
May be we should be content that they provide this service at all.

Alex, 10 weeks that´s not too bad at all! It took them 8 months in my home country and that cost me 200 US$:-(

Congratulations Olek for you PPR. You´re almost there. I just called FBI and they said they have already mailed my FBI clearance 6 days ago. I will barely make it to the 90 day deadline given by CIC-Buffalo. In summary my FBI clearance took 8 - 9 weeks to process. Alexander you´re right, that´s why they can´t catch terrorist right away. I think the agency should be privatized to become more competitive.
