Subject: visitor pass
I just recently moved from Illinois to New York to be closer to my fiance. We both applied for the Nexus pass and got approved but just tonight I was going thru one of the regular lanes (Nexus closes at 8pm) and I got pulled over. They did the search, sent me inside and said "I´m gonna let you in tonight but you have to come back with your fiance and get a visitors pass"

My question....what exactly is a visitors pass?

How long are they good for?

How much do they cost?

And most importantly do you feel this is my best way right now to make sure I can visit her? If there is a better way please advise.

I asked them when I was leaving what the issue was and they said that I am in Canada a lot and I cant take residence here. I am in Canada a lot...most of the time just overnight but I do have my own apartment in New York.

ANy advise at this point would be sooo helpful! The end goal is for me to move to Canada and become a resident.

If you get married with your fiance , you might be able to apply as a family member , (your fiance most be a Canadian citizen or Permanent residence of Canada though).
Or you could apply as an independ immigrant under the skill worker category.

You should check www.cic.gc.ca and look for information about the different ways how you can immigrate to Canada.

A good education , been healthy and no criminal record is VERY important in order to immigrate to the Great White North!

Does anyone know anymore about what is referred to a visitor pass tho? Should I actually need to get this to come into Canada as much as I do? Right now I come here on average 4-5 nights a week. ANy advice is greatly appreciated!
