Subject: american working for american company from canada
Hi, I am an american citizen with a canadian girlfriend. Currently I do contract work over the internet (programming) for an american company in San Francisco (I am currently in Seattle). I would like to spend a few month (maybe 4 or 5) living with my girlfriend in canada, but continue to do this contract work for the american company. Would I require a work visa in canada? I do not plan on becoming a canadian citizen yet, and do plan on returning to the US. Anybody know how I might go about this? To complicate matters, if I do make the move, I would want to bring my pets (2 cats and a parrot) with me, so it will be fairly obvious to immigrations that I am not just going up for a quick visit. Thanks in advance for any helpful information.

What if you don´t say a word about your location or what you doing in Canada (to Canadians, including your gf, don´t trust Canadians!) and just keep doing your work and file taxes in the US as you have been doing. If they ask you what you doing in Canada, you can tell ´em you are poking a girl or two...
