Subject: Time line for spouse sponsorship
  Hi All,

I have been reading the comments of all for long now.I am giving below my timeline. If anyone can relate to it or has an opinion,pl share it.

Applied at Missisauga on 3rd Jan.2005
I was asked to resubmit as some signature was missing on the form.
I sent the apllication again on Feb.3rd.
I recd. letter from CHC New Delhi dated 1st March to submit my passport.
I recieved another letter dated 7th March to submit passport.
I sent my passport on 18th March. It was delivered at CHC New Delhi on 21st March.
Any ideas how long I have to wait before hearing anything?

Good Luck to all waiting for a miracle !!

to be honest with you it takes 3 months at chc new delhi from the time they started processing your application
so if they have started processing your case in march or whatever eclient status shows it takes 3 months from that time because they started procession my case in jan and we are still waiting
so you should be hearing sometime by june

Time line (in reply to: Time line for spouse sponsorship)
Do you know if the CHC gets medical results etc from Canada at the time it sends letter that it has started processing or does it get medical results etc. as a final step only after it has made some decision on the application.

My medical exams were done in USA since I was studying there. Would that make any difference to my time line?

Sending documents to CHC New Delhi (in reply to: Time line for spouse sponsorship)

I strongly recommend one and all to send any documents to CHC New Delhi thru Goverment of India´s Speedpost Service only.

Speedpost is the only agency authorized to handle passports in India. As per info I recd from Fedex!

You can also pay few more rupees (10-20 rupees)and request an acknowledgement of reciept i.e.of delivery.

In any case, the other advantage of speedpost is that they have an online tracking system !

Plus,to confirm,I even went to Chanakyapuri post office to see for myself the exact date my passport was delivered to CHC New Delhi and it is on record that it was delivered on 21st march in my case based on tracking no. of my mail.

The speedpost is very prompt in delivery too.Unusual but true!!

I posted it on Saturday night 7.00p.m.19th March and it was delivered to CHC on Monday morning,21st March.

If you sent ur documents thru ordinary mail,i dont think there is any way to track it now.

Also,For passports etc. it is specified that send to Post box no. only.Courier services ususlly dont deliver to P.Box No.s.
Only speedpost does.

When your request letter came from new delhi to ask you to send your passport to them..Was there also a request for you to send in 2 visa size photos,,,and also a form to fill in the information about your eye colour, and height,,and to send this extra information also along with your passport...

Nope,I was only asked to submit my passport.

It said that my passport should have my family name on the passport. They said that they do not accept the name "Kaur" as last name. So I just got my husbands last name added to my name in the passport and got a new passport issued and submitted both my new passport and old passport to CHC along with a name change affidavit.

Thats it.No other info was asked for and no other forms !

So you are married to a Canadian man..And the New delhi told you that you needed to have your husbands name added to your passport before they would start your spousal application process...Did it indicate that you would need a affiadavide with the name change in your passport?..The reason i asked about the 2 photos, and the height ,and eye color extra information..Is because i have talked to other persons who got a request for this extra information, and sometimes thier inerviews are waviered,,and when they do go to a interview,,it seems they get thier visa without much problem...A few people i spoken to,,who have not gotten this request for extra information have been refused...But it is probley not a concern for you..I think just sometimes the procedures to get information is so different in these offices..Was your marriage a love marriage,,or a arranged marriage??..
