Friday March 4th,2005: It just took one day to visit Passport office to find info on how to apply to passport office for name change and to make affidavit for name change.

Documents required:
Application,
Fees,
Photo,
Original passport for verification(They return it after seeing it),
Copy of marriage Certificate,
Copy of husband´s passport,
Copy of CHC New Delhi letter requiring name change and submission of passport.

Monday March 7th,2005: I applied for name change at passport office,New Delhi.

I recd. passport back on Saturday,19th March.

I requested the Tatkal Service. However, everyone requesting Tatkal service must meet PRO of that passport office and prove their urgency to justify Tatkal Service !!

It was a pretty bad experience at Delhi Passport office,I can assure you.

For name change in newspaper you can do it at any newspaper´s local booking office in your area.

You just need to give them copy of your affidavit for name change. The name change advt appears in the newspaper the third day.People advise getting it in both Hindi and English major daily.I just got mine advertised in Times of India and kept 4-5 copies of that days newspaper.
