I have to visit Canada on business and had applied for visit visa about 2 weeks back. I have not heard from the consulate. I called up and they say it may take 4 weeks. Now I know that is a generic answer. Anyone who has had experience on mailed application to Buffalo NY consulate?
I need to travel within the US and without a passport is really difficult. Don´t know what to do? Please share on your esperience of expeted time-line on visit visa applications.

I applied for vissit visa in Kuwait and the same status
they took mine and families passport and kept it for over 4weeks and at the end rejected the visa. Really frustrating experience
