Subject: Urgen help please
I have an interview scheduled for the 4th of May. They asked me to bring my passport, my husband´s marriage certificate from his previous marriage, notice of assessment for 2003. I have the notice of assessment but not the marriage certificate. Instead, i have "record of solemnization of marriage". My husband didn´t apply for a certificate as he faced difficulties in his firt marriage and didn´t pursue it.

Is that going to be a problem? shall i inform the embassy before the interview?

Please let me know. I need help please urgently

Thank you

Why are they asking for a marriage certificate from a previous marriage? Damn!

Explanation (in reply to: Urgen help please)
I guess because he got divorced in the states. He had to get the divorce from there. She´s a greencard holder and refused to come to Canada for divorce. Maybe they doubt he lives in the states. What do u think? is the record of solemnization enough? thanks

Just tell them you don;t have a copy. That should be enough but you might have to give a good explanation too.

Take all documents you have.

Also ask your husband to write up a letter (which you can take) explaining why you did not bring the marriage certificate from prev. marriage.

Afraid just your speaking why is not enough - there has to be a written explanation which will have to come from your husband.

Whenever you do not have a document that CIC requests, you have to have a WRITTEN explanation WHY.....if you have a good reason why you do not have the document, all should be OK.

Take as many documents as you can, and written explanations for why you don´t have the others.

Good Luck

We lost the document and ordering a new one would take a minimum of two weeks. Is that an acceptable excuse?
