Sharon, you asked what solution do I suggest to solve the parental sponsorship backlog. Like I said, the people who created the problem should suggest how to solve it, but in the following link there are few solutions:

The agency suggested that parents undergo medical exams before coming to Canada and submit proof of private health coverage to cover their period of stay.

If parents were to go on social assistance while in this country, ?they would be subject to removal.?

? Creation of an Inland Parent Class: This class of immigrant would allow parents who are in Canada to apply for permanent residency, similar to the existing Spousal or Common-Law Partner in Canada Class.

? Boosting immigration levels: JIAS noted that previous governments have recommended Canada?s annual immigrant flow should represent one percent of the total population.

That would mean that given the population of nearly 32 million, immigration targets should be closer to 320,000 rather than the current target range of 225,000-240,000, JIAS said.

Given the traditional 60-40 split between economic and family immigrants, by increasing the target to 320,000, an additional 38,000 family class applicants could be processed annually, which would ?substantially? decrease the backlog of parent applications, the agency pointed out.

Thank you. some of your solutions are very reasonable.

I have read that there is some constitutional concern about denying anyone healthcare, so that could be a potential problem as well as the human outcry that would come when CIC would attempt to remove an elderly couple from Canada because their children can´t or refuse to care for them.

the quota you are suggesting might be higher than Canada can absorb. we are still talking currently a 3 year wait with your calculations to clear the backlog. If the applications exceed your projected quota... we are back in the same position all over again. Should there be a limit... perhaps a lottery system - CIC accepts XXX applications per year. Once that number is met, you must wait and apply next year? that way there is no wait list that grows every year...

thank you for offering your solutions.
