| Subject: should i marry in england or canada |
i have been with my boyfriend for a year and we plan to move to canada. He has canadian citizenship as was born in canada. Would it be easier for my emigraation as an english citezen to marry before we move in england or when we get to canada? Which would make my acceptance quicker?

Congrats. I am just beginning this process, but from all of the websites, documents, and packets I have read it seems that where you marry is irrelevant. It is more important to note who you marry. Being a Canadian is what is important, not the county under you feet when you say, "I Do/ Will."

It´s faster to sponsor you if you get married in England so your husband can sponsor you as a "spouse". Spouse sponsorship application are fast-tracked through the system as far as possible. The time frame has been running at about 4 to 6 months.

Lozarita: what makes you say it is faster to marry in england and then come to canada? Why not just marry once they both get to canada??

My husband is english and I am canadian and we married in the UK. We have been waiting since April 14th for his permanent residence visa and I am getting fed up. I really miss my country and my whole family, but I don´t want to leave without him. As far as I´ve read, he will be refused entry if he tries to come with me. I really hope you´re right with the 4 to 6 months!!!
