  Hi community,

I wonder why the CIC Buffalo website asks applicants specifically NOT to apply for RCMP, US & HK certificates unless asked to do so?

"Do not request a police certificate from Hong Kong, the United States or Canada until you are instructed to do so by a visa office."

Why don?t they say the same for other countries?? Is it because that after there assesment they might exempt some applicants from these certificates. Anybody has answers for this puzzle?

Please share if you did or didn´t apply on your own for these clearances and what was the outcome.

They just do that because there is a very well established procedure to get the Police certificates from these countries.
With other countries changes in procedures might come unexpected, and therefore CIC doesn´t want to risk delaying PR processing at a later stages.
But I think that recently CIC started to ask applicants from the US to provide Police Certificates together with their application. May be that is happanening because getting police certificate in the US became such a hectic and painful process.
