Subject: important question of caips notes
  hi could anyone answer this question?

Received:
FBI PC FOR SUBJECT: NO RECORD
==============B123456789 ABC DEC 1 2004===================
PI B CHECK SENT ELECTRONICALLY
==============B123456789 DEF MAR 1 2005===================

I can easily understand from above that my fbi record check was received on Dec 1, 2004 with no criminal record. however, my question is 2nd item. it said my background check was sent electronically on Mar 1, 2005. does that mean my background check starts on Mar 1, 2005 or my background check results was received by cic on Mar 1, 2005 since it was under the cateogory of ´received´. by the way, i am from china, how long normally it takes for this background check since my working experience is totally from china.

thank you for anyone giving me the answer.

Yes it was started on March 01. Nobody has any clue how long it will take ranging from a couple of months to one year. BTW, the electronic b chk are to verify your educational and work experience credentials only. Security checks are different from b chk which can take much longer.

Do not pay attention, just wait patiently.

Here is some more detailed info:

Background check is done by visa post processing application, with help of other visa posts in countries where edu and exp credential may came from. It verifies your claimed background data, educational and experience credentials.

Security check (also called background/security check) is conducted completely outside Immigration by Canadian intelligence and security agencies, with or without cooperation of proper authorities in all countries you resided in since age 18 (for some national since age 16). It looks deep (very deep) into your background, life, activities and associations to see if you are or ever were involved and/or are or were associated in any way with someone who is or was involved in terrorism, espionage, organized crime, crimes against humanity, radical groups, etc.
This check usually starts after successful interview or interview waiver and depending from your background, nationality, countries you resided in and other factors may take anywhere from few monthe to over a year to complete.
