Subject: Landing while living in Canada |
Hi:
Can someone please let me know how you can land if you are already living in Canada on a work permit? Do we need to leave the country and re-enter or can this be done internally within Canada.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Landing by car (in reply to: Landing while living in Canada) I remember reading about this from a posting, quite a while back. I don´t remember the exact details, but here is what I know.
You would have to drive to the US border. You have to tell the US border agent that you intend to head back to Canada and do an immigration landing. The border agent would stamp your passport as Entry denied and hand you a piece of paper with the reasons. You would then drive back to the Canadian side and tell the Canadian agent that you intend to do a landing.
I remember people mentioning something about this kind of landing as being " around the flag pole". I guess it might mean that you make a U-turn around the flag pole representing the US-Canada border.
I hope that this is helpful for you.

(in reply to: Landing while living in Canada) Dose this method require US visa?

Entry denied (in reply to: Landing while living in Canada) If you read my post again, you´ll note that I´ve written the following line:
"The border agent would stamp your passport as Entry denied "
This means that you are denied a Visa to enter US. You don´t need a US visa to turn back to Canada. You are not really entering US territory, rather you are crossing a small portion of it to turn back to Canada. I think that you might just be moving within the No-man zone.
