Subject: Applied in Buffalo not in USA |

|
Hello,
First I would like to thank you all for the great info on this site. I am in the following situation.
I have applied for PR in Mar 2004 in Buffalo and left US in Jun 2004 to India.
I am currently residing in India and interested in Canadian Immigration.
I want to know
1. If I can get my medical exam done in India
2. If I can get visitor visa to US to attend the interview.
I think it is kind of difficult to get a visitor visa to
USA from india but is attending canadian PR interview form a legitimate reason?
If I am not able to attend the interview then what will happen to my file, can it be transferred to india?
Thanks in advance
PK

(in reply to: Applied in Buffalo not in USA) Here are answers to your questions:
1. If I can get my medical exam done in India
Ans: Yes you can do your medicals in India using one of the doctors listed by CIC as "Designated Medical Practitioners. Refer web site http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/contacts/dmp/india.html
2. If I can get visitor visa to US to attend the interview.
It is difficult. I do not see "attending canadian PR interview" as a legitimate reason? If you get interview waiver than you need not to worry about US visitors visa.
Transfering file to India is posible but it is a long wait compare to Buffalo, USA.
As you mentioned that you have applied in June 2004 than why you did not get your medicals ? I also applied in June (Buffalo) and got my IA and Medicals in March 2005. I submitted all these in April 2005 and waiting for PP request.
June 04 applicants are now receiving medicals. Check with CIC.

I will check with CIC, thanks very much for your input.
I only wish I won´t have to attend an interview.
