Subject: Applying from country of residence
  Hi there,
I am Indian citizen aspirant for Canadian immigration in US for one year now. Of what I know, since I have lived in US for one year (on H1) I can now apply from US itself. Since the processing time is nearly one fourth as compared to applying from India, I really want to do it. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Secondly, once I submit my application would it be impcated if I have to go back to India for few months?
Response highly appreciated.

Yes, you are eligible to apply from the US.

Yes, on records the possiblity of processing in the US is faster than in India. However, latetely the processing times from US has been advised from 15-18 months to 24-33 months. But still you are better off applying from the US if you can.

Does not matter if you want to visit India while application is processing in the US. However, if asked for an Interview you need to be present in the US. They will not take your interview in India - if application is being processed in the US. Moreover, you will have to ensure you adhere to timely submissions of other documents, Medicals. However, these can also be done from India.
