My parents are coming to visit me in Canada. They are 63 and 61 years of age and really don´t have anybody to look after them in their native land. I am a naturalized Canadian Citizen living in Canada, with healthy income to suffice the immigration regulations on income for
sponsorship. On sposoring my parents, I have following questions:
1. I want sponsor them as soon as they land in Canada - as the processing time for parental sponsorship is horrible. Is this possible? They have only six months of visa. I guess, I could extend another six months once they get here.
2. Since I will be filing the sponsorship application from within Canada, will it make any difference if they leave Canada say after 6-7 months? Do they have to remain in Canada until their process is complete?
3. With the recent changes of parents sponsorship, after what stage of the sponsorship application can they apply and obtain visa for 5 years? Do they have to remain in Canada until that period?
I would be grateful if someone could answer my questions or let me know if anyone has gone through the similar experience.
