Subject: Be Pro-active?
I applied in Sep 04, got AOR in Jan 05, and expect my IA with medical forms in a month or so. I recently did my fingerprints and am wondering whether it makes sense to be pro-active. In other words, is it good to send my police certificate (FBI and state police) to Buffalo as well as updated bank statement and job information not having a request from the consulate? Should I update something else?

Any ideas would be highly appreciated.

Hey my friend if your AOR is in Jan 2005, how in the world are you expecting your IA in about one month? Im really curious let me know. Because I applied in OCt 04 and got my AOR in Feb 05, and in my AOR they stated that the assessing times is 36 weeks whichis 9 months. So I am wondering how are you thinking you will get your IA in one month? how do you know that? please let me know. Has someone in your timeline got IA or where did you see info on this.

Regarding being pro-active, yea you can go ahead and submit FBI and police..I had already submitted FBi with my application but then I sent IELTS and police certificate again.

Hi FastGuy,

Based on the current timelines you should expect to get IA from Buffalo around August - September 2005.

Well, my calculations are based on www.yogi799.com. People who applied in Aug 04 are getting their IAs right now. Some of them got their IAs in April. I applied on 9/16/04, money order was cashed on 9/28/04, and my AOR was stamped on 1/5/05. Why does June sound unreasonable to you? I believe that the date of application as a predictor is more accurate than AOR.

FastGuy:

People who applied in/until Aug 04 got their AOR´s in just a month around Sep 04. So based on this and keeping in mind CIC´s 36 weeks to assess, Aug 04 people are getting their AOR´s now (9 months since filing). But remember after that, people who applied from Sep 04 onwards till Dec 04 got their AOR´s after 4 months after filing, your case is a classic example, you filed in Sep 04 and got AOR in Jan 04 (that´s 4 months right there). So from your AOR date which is Jan 04 add 9 months and thats when you will get your IA. So you getting an IA next month is not logical. What do you think? You will get your AOR around Sep 05. Greyhound you will get your IA around Sep-Oct 05 also..DO you guys all agree?

I was kind of wondering about all this myself.
I applied Dec. 28, 2004. My AOR is stamped Mar. 15, 2005.
There seems to have been a total slow-down with the issuance of AORs.
From the patterns, I see, for most who applied until July 2004, they got their AOR in about 1 month.
From August 2004 through like February 2005, It has been taking 3 or 4 months to get AORs.
It appears like March 2005 was a big month for AORs to be issued.
Now, if you look at apps submitted March 2005 and later, it seems that many AORs are being issued within one month.
I could be wrong, but these are the conclusions that I gather.
Also, when they mention a 36 week backlog, I believe it is from APPLICATION SUBMISSION DATE, not date of AOR.
So Since I submitted my application end of Dec 2004, I am expecting IA about September/October 2005.
Of course, I can project all I want, and the reality can be totally different.

Hi Menino:

How are you sure that 36 weeks to assess is based on application submit date and not AOR date? Is this specifically mentioned in your AOR letter you got or are you assuming things? I myself dont know, thats why I am asking, so if you do know, please confirm it. Anyone else knows about this too??

I think we can be sure of only one thing: That we really can´t be sure of ANYTHING!!! ha ha...

Anyway, I will quote from my AOR:

"We cannot respont to request for the status of your application until it has been assessed. (We are currently assessing files received 36 weeks ago.)"

The fact that it says files received 36 weeks ago, to me, means the date of submission (or the date the consulate received the application.)

Looking at Yogi, it has typically been 8 or 9 months from the time application was submitted.

We can only cross our fingers and wait!

Good luck to all of us!

The issue of AORs was a real problem. Now it looks like Buffalo guys fixed it. That´s why I think that the date of application is much better predictor than AOR. As far as I know, Buffalo indicates the time in the PAST between opening your FILE and IA ("we are currently assessing files RECEIVED XX weeks ago") which is very rough indicator for us unlike www.yogi799.com where we have real-life time.

Please note that my file was opened in Sep 04 (receipt when they cashed out my moner order indicates my file number AND September). However, they sent me a letter (AOR) saying that in Jan 05. Based on that, I strongly believe that the date of AOR is very confusing at least for guys who applied in Sep-Dec 04 because of backlog.

What do you think?
