My friend from Korea (not PR) back at college and she just finished her half year registered nurse graduated work over Queen Charlotte Island and she came back to Nanaimo for medical examination and pay vacation.

She applied PNP under nurse position on Feb 2005, get FN March 2005, Medical April 2005, gonna finish whole PR process less than 6 month. No IA, interview required.

If people, who eligible under PNP, please, just don??t apply Federal one, too slow.

And there is lot of chance in the northern community, which is isolated.
She told me, min wage for nurse is 22dolalrs over there, and She gets 40, if over time, average 60 dollars.

However, over Queen Charlotte, ER room is kind of leisure. All nurse over there watch 3 movie per night for the whole 8 hours night shift and get pay 40 dollars/hour.

The only problems over Queen Charlotte, are no movie centre, no grocery store, no bar, gas 120/L. bears and cougars are everywhere, sometimes baby bears gonna come to your kitchen for food if you don´t lock the window

Yijie,

That´s such a shame to hear that a nurse is watching three movies during work and then makes $60 per hour. I hope Canada does not feel regret one day for accepting this kind of people. If you have problem understanding what I say, just go to the emergency in a hospital and see how long the waits are.

should clear this, not my friend is watching three movie a night by herself. do you think graduated international student will risk their PR process and do this by themselves alone?you like it or not, it´s there, that´s the way it is. you can be a nurse or work in public sector if you like. You can move to Northern community if you like, there is less waiting period over there.

departure bay...you paint a very misleading picture. Small community hospitals have minimum staff requirements. If the workload is light, then there might be a chance for some activites to pass the time - but this is an exception rather than a rule. More than likely, that hospital is run off its feet 99% of the time. Sometimes those small hospitals serve 3 or 4 communities and there is no choice but to have them there - busy or not.

All hospital staff across the country work long hard hours. they deserve the money they earn.

Isolated communities offer some interesting opportunities for anyone - not just new immigrants. Often the pay is a little higher, but so is the cost of living. It is an option that people should consider... but DB, it is not free and easy ride that you portray.
