Subject: Background Check (BDEC) shown on CAIPS
  Dear all,

As my understanding, the computer code for BDEC which shows on the CAIPS is decoded as follow: 1-passed, 2-omitted all under 18, 3-incomplete and, 4-failed. For instance,

BDEC 1 01-01-2005

However, the computer code on my CAIPS for the BDEC is blanking. It only shows the date. Can someone please share some thoughts with me? Does that mean they started the background check on that date or does it mean they have completed it on the date shown or something else?

Also, my computer code for Medical Decision(MEDDEC), Other requirments(OREQ)are showing 0. Isn´t that the computer code should start from 1?

Any input is greatly appreciated. Thank you very much and good luck to all of you.

Hi,
I had a similar query and a guy called cool canada said this for me.

´BDEC 0 -- (means your background check is not decided yet or complete, so this has to be cleared before they even ask for your passport, so wait)

M dec 0 -- (means no decision yet on this)

PSDEC 1 -- (you have passed your paper screening decision)

SELDEC 4 -- (means your selection decision is waived, see you have not passed but been waived, im not sure what that implies)

OREQ 0 -- (other requirements decision pending yet)

Looks like you have a long way to go before all the 1?s show up next to each of these except SELDEC AND PSDEC which have already been decided. Hope things work out for you. "

hope this helps u

0 means no decision yet or decision pending, with regards to you background check like troubledguy told you, that means your background check has just started, and in process, once they decide on it, then they will put a number indicating if youve passed or failed or whatever. So hang on, and please share you timeline. Mine is I applied in Oct 04 and got my AOR in Feb 05

Rubel, my CAIPS notes are exactly the same, I have a blank space and a date next to BDEC, my MEDDEC says 0. Further in the notes, the medicals have been assessed with an M01 which is a pass. What is worrying about my notes is the File BF to MMK 29-12-2006
I am concerned this means that I will not be assessed until then? My timeline is as follows:

Applied Buffalo as Skilled Worker: Feb 2004
AOR March 2004
Interview Waived: Oct. 2004
Medicals/Police Check: Nov. 2004
Addt. info: Nov. 2004

Since then, nothing - just got my CAIPS noted and they indicate that I have enough points, but other than that tell me nothing.

Any advice??
Tracey
