Subject: baby born in 3rd country
I just found this forum today, and I am so grateful. I have spent the last few months searching for information.

I am a Canadian citizen, working in Japan. My fiance is a Brazilian citizen, currently studying in Japan, until September 2005, when his program will finish. We must leave Japan at that time as his student visa will expire. We have a 3-month old son together. I want to sponsor him (my fiance) and go to Canada together. He has a visitor visa from a previous visit to Canada. My questions:
1. Can I start the sponsorship application procedure from Japan, even though I am not living in Canada?
2. If we start the process, but it is not completed by September, can he come to Canda to visit? Would it help if we travelled separately? I understand that immigration could refuse him entry if they suspect he won´t leave.
3. In September, when we leave Japan, what would be the implications of going to Brazil to wait out the process?

I want to know from your experiences what is the easiest, fastest way to go about this. I have to worry not only about myself, but also our young son. I don´t want him to be apart from his father.

Any advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all in advance.
