I think PRG´s is right and has made a fair assessment of the situation. It is Canadians who should rather be open minded even though I still think they have one of the best immigration policy in the world. More room has to be made for immigrants. Much as I understand the need for canadian experience, I guess the policy should be able to make room for some gap bridging training instead of companies just asking 3 week old immigrants about Canadian experience when they know very well from their PR cards that they don´t have. ALUTA CONTINUA!!!!

yes you are right ... just before landing to canada we have many hopes. but after a few weeks or months later we lost all of them. anyway you go somewhere else and they ask your d1ploma´s equality. Ok... I can´ t say anything to this as a foreigner. But when you study in Ontario , they stiil ask equality in Quebec.
Do you have an reasonable answer to that?

Well, I can tell you if you look about complains and negativity from immigrants, you can find thousand of experiences, many web pages! But we have been living here 3 years and it seems we are finding some light at the end of the tunnel. If you arrive to Canada you need to design a plan of action:

First: Be fluent in English, I mean fluent! this is an obstacle that can close you many doors at the moment of trying to find a job or get an interview.

Second: You have 2 ways of accomplish Canadian experience: survival jobs, volunteer jobs. Any of these, will allow you to get experience, improve your English, get to know how Canadians work, make networking "crucial to find a job"! jobs doesn´t kill! Besides, SURVIVAL JOBS DON´T KILL, It will be up to you to make this step a transitory step or go on complaining.

Third: Get your license to work in your area, yes look for information and start to do them!, the soonest you start the soonest you finish, I know, I know, nobody wants to be tested their knowledge or proved their experience, but remember you can´t change leopard spots, it´s the system here!

Forth: Everything is on internet there are thousand of immigrants, that DO NOT READ, DO NOT PICK UP BROCHURES, DO NOT CALL ANYONE, DO NOT LEAVE THEIR APARTMENTS TO MEET PEOPLE, MAYBE YOU HAVE TO MOVE TO ANOTHER CITY! A JOB WON´T ARRIVE TO YOUR DOOR! there are many programs that can help us back to work.

From the time you apply for permanent residence, you can realize, how you did it, from the INTERNET, where do you get the forms and information from there everything is there, so READ! INVESTIGATE!
- go to human resources on your city find about programs for Canadians or immigrants to help us find a job.
- Look on the internet for programs and services for immigrants!
- These are some institutions who are giving these programs go, find out, enroll! NOW!

Why some one with 10-15 years of experience would do volunteer jobs??? How exactly computer programming is different in Israel or any other hi-tech developed country?

I consider my family a success story - both me and my wife found a job after 3 months in Canada. But you know how many people with excellent skills and PERFECT English are looking for a job for YEARS because of lack of "Canadian experience"?

Sharon, wake up!!

The biggest problem in Canada is that most Canadians think there is no life outside North America.
