Subject: IA?
What is IA exactly?
What does it say in the document?
I applied SK to Buffalo in Jan 2004. AOR in Mar 2004.
How come I haven´t received my IA yet?

You should have got your IA a long time back. Send a letter to Buffalo to inquire about the status of your file.

You can also order CAIPS notes. Visit www.caipsnotes.com for more information. It will take 30 to 45 days to get the notes.

IA - Initial Assessment

The immigration official looks at your file and determines if you have the required points to qualify for immigration. They also decide if an interview is required or not based on the documents you have provided.

Medical documents are sent along with the decision regarding the interview.

If interview is required they will tell you where in US you will be interviewed (NY, LA, Detroit or Seattle).

If interview is not required then they ask for additional documents like updated reference letter, police clearance, bank statements etc.

My lawyer sent the fax already.
However, I am still wondering how it can take such a long time to process even the IA.
Do you know if the nationality is an issue as well?
For example, Indians seem to pass very soon than others.
