Subject: Family Class Spousal (PP Request CHC Delhi)
  Hi,
Here is the timeline for my spousal application under Family Class.

Application Sent to CPC Mississauga: March 29, 2005.
Approval to Sponsor and forwarded to New Delhi: April 19, 2005.
CHC New Delhi started processing: May 04, 2005.
Passport Request received : May 17th, 2005.

It says to send in

ORIGINAL PASSPORT FOR YOU AND YOUR ACCOMPANING DEPENDANTS(See Reverse for details).
Please note that your surname must be endorsed on your passport.
The names Kaur and Singh do not qualify for the purpose of immigration to Canada.

Now my question is:
1. There is no return envelope (brown ones) to send the passport back.
2. I read in other forums that CHC New Delhi asks for 2 pieces of photographs and other vital statistics form to be filled out.

3. What it means by "surname must be endorsed" although her surname is not Kaur or Singh.

So should my wife (who is in New Delhi) courier her passport with a covering letter or should she wait for another letter from CHC New Delhi and consider this letter an an acknowlegement or pre-alert of some sort.

Thanks for your insight as always.

Arnab M

Hi There... (in reply to: Family Class Spousal (PP Request CHC Delhi))
Arnab bhai...
Kaise Ho...
Okey... the surname Kaur and Singh does not qualify doesnt apply to your case because your wife´s last name is not Kaur or Singh. Just ignore that part.

Take Care.

Arnab,

To answer your questions....

Now my question is:
1. There is no return envelope (brown ones) to send the passport back.

WE NEVER GOT IT EITHER....
2. I read in other forums that CHC New Delhi asks for 2 pieces of photographs and other vital statistics form to be filled out.

IF THEY DID NOT ASK THE ITS NOT NEEDED CHC did not ask us either.....

3. What it means by "surname must be endorsed" although her surname is not Kaur or Singh.

Yes she needs to have ur surname......

So should my wife (who is in New Delhi) courier her passport with a covering letter or should she wait for another letter from CHC New Delhi and consider this letter an an acknowlegement or pre-alert of some sort.

SEND THE PASSPORT TO THE PO BOX ADDRESS CAUSE IT WILL GO VIA SPEED POST AND U CAN TRACK IT....I THINK MY WIFES APPLICATION GOT DELAYED CAUSE WE SENT IT THROUGH BLUEDART....

Let me know if you have any questions.

ALL THE BEST !!

Kunal.

Kunal,
Thanks for your guidance. I guess we are in the same boat.
Now the problem is that I did not insist on changing my wife´s maiden name.As because when I went to passport office in New Delhi back in March to get her name changed, they said it will take some 4-6 weeks and also her passport number will change as they will issue a brand new passport.
Hence my best guess would be "surname must be endorsed" applies to Singh or Kaur lastnames.
I know few people´s spouses who has landed in Canada with their maiden names without any problems.
Let me keep my finger crossed and I will ask my wife to use speed post to deliver the passport as per your advise.

Thanks bud.
