Subject: Why do you think you should wait for 4 years...
  Hi Guys...
The question I want to ask here is more on cursioty based then immigration...

I see on the forum that there are people who are willing to wait upto 4 years (specially in India) to get their PR. There are cases that are still penidng from 2001...

Now its a pretty long time... Why do you still feel strong about Canada. Why would one want to immigrat to Canada... to a totally new land where many of them havent been and have no clue what it is going to be.

In 2-4 years whole lefe can change... dont you think that its too much time to wast for immigration...

CIC in many places has been burried under so much to work and they lag behind 4 years... its not a very positive sign from the Canadian Govt to begin with...

I have a friend in India who has applied in mid 2003 and till now he has only receive AOR. He tells me that it willbe about 2007 when he may get his immigration... I personally think its ridiculous and CIC must do something about it so that the process can be expediated.

When Canada need people to sustain its workforce and its economy they better hurry up...

Anyways.. Good Luck to everyone in their process...

the reason it is taking so long from countries like India is that the applications far exceed the annual quota for the region. The only other option would be to change the system so that once the annual quota is reached, no further applications are accepted until January of the following year.

Not sure which is worse.

Yah, it´s a long waiting times during which we lost many chances, the business market encountered changes and prices are up and up... I hope no more waiting for over 3 years are more than enough...and I wonder if there is some way to push our case forward in this final stage!

Regarding the Quota system... sharon let me tell you... Canada is not being able to fulfill its quota of immigrants...

They are way below the specified requirements in intake of immigrants...

Annual target is between 220.000 and 245.000 immigrants , ultimate plan is to have an intake of about 1% of total CAnadian population. They were able to meet those targets every single year and even exceed it,so, nothing wrong with CIC´s efficiency. There seems to be quota on a country-by-country basis ( not per office ) , if so, India probably exceeds those quota by far, thus creating a massive bottleneck.
Btw, does anybody knows anything about those quota per country ??

I found it here - http://www.diycanadaimmigration.com/faq/submission.aspx

"4. Is there a quota for applications from any given country?

No, Canada´s immigration system does not contain any provisions for a quota by which a maximum number of applicants from any given region are allowable. Applications are treated on a first-come-first-serve basis."

Not sure if there are quota per country, but there are quota per office for sure. They don´t call it quota though, they call it " targets " and you won´t find it anywhere on the web.

Well, I do not see any reasons why not to quote every country?

there is a quota for every country but places like India, Pakistan and China have more annual applicants than Canada can take in one year. (I think the annual quota for India is 20,000 or about 8% of our entire immigration target) Folks on work permits in the US are flooding Buffalo because the US is so slow and reluctant to issue Green Cards. There is a quota for Buffalo too (27,000). Some countries have no backlog at all!

My guess is that it takes about 1 year to complete the actual immigration process. The rest of the time is waiting your turn in the lineup.

I found a table with 2005 ´targets´ on this forum SOMEWHERE. I did not keep the link... just the file. stupid me. It is a list by embassy and compares 2004 to 2005. That is what I am using in my previous post.
