Subject: why we must wait so long
I just discovered this link. it shows how many applications are anticipated to be processed for 2005 at each embassy and how many are already waiting in line as of December 2004.

New Delhi will be processing 11,350 skilled workers for 2005. There is 38,483 waiting in line. By my math, if you are # 38,483... they will not start looking at your file until sometime in 2009

how depressing.

Yes Sharon, and I also believe that Canada has its own demoghraphic strategy when it comes to immigration, and this explains why cases in some regions take long time.

CIC is so wierd... on one side the Canadian Govt says it needs more immigrants and on the otherside so much of backlog... why dont they hire some more ppl and get the cases solved quickly...

I remember... they increased the staff in Buffalo by one person and in starting of 2004 there were more cases being cleared then ever... it felt so good...

HS, what you´ve said explains that there is demographic strategy, that they increased immigration employees in the countries they want more immigrants from.

Canada wants 250,000 new PR every year. That is all the goverment thinks it can handle each year. It has nothing to do with staff at the embassy... it has everything to do with the availability of housing, education, medical services, potential employment, language services once a PR has arrived in Canada. I not sure how they determine quota from each country - probably a balance between demand, population, etc.

Then according to figures on this website, Islamabad will take 3.4 years (40 months) to process December 2004 applications.

Yet another very interesting link Sharon ( where do you keep finding them :)? )
Looks like Paris doesn´t have a backlog at all ??!?? If I interpret those numbers right ,that is.

hey John... I am becoming the Google Queen!

Those numbers make total sense in regards to Paris and jive with our own experience. They suggest that every application that was in the system as of December 2004 should be opened and the processing begun in the first half of 2005. It does not say how long to complete (PR request), but from what I am now seeing...if there are no delays it is reasonable to anticipate a CIC application to take 10-14 months from AOR.

We are 1 year from AOR on June 1, interviewed waived (so we saved a few months) and we are 4 months since medicals and ROLF. I am hoping, hoping, hoping, we are getting closer to the end.

Processing a damn visa at the Paris embassy is taking an average of 4 years right now. If they do nothing (employ more officers), this is what you should expect.
