Hello
We hired a lawyer to help us for the sponsorship of my husband´s parents . He gave us an estimate of big amount of money which we need to pay to the canadian govt. through him . He told us that we need to pay it now to make the whole process faster . May be he told us the truth but we r a little bit suspicious . Anyone have any idea how much that is ?

(in reply to: fee for parental sponsorship) Hi Sama,
You DO NOT have to pay anything to the Canadian govt. to sponsor your parents.
Please visit the following link to get information about the whole process of sponsoring your parents. This is the official website of CIC. Please download the Guide and read it very carefully.
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/applications/family.html
You will have to sign a sponsorship agreement saying that you will take care of your parents when they stay in Canada and that they will not apply for social assistance for a period of 10 years after they become PR of Canada. Please read the sponsorship agreement form IMM 1344B for more details.

(in reply to: fee for parental sponsorship) Why you are giving wrong information?
There is a processing fee of $550 per parent which has to be paid in advance.
In addition, there is a Right of Landing fee of $975.
P.S. Did your lawyer tell you that the processing of parental applications has stopped?
