| Subject: Medical Test Extension |

Hi:
I have questions about medical test extension and am hoping to get some
answers on this BB.
Here is my situation:
1. My wife and I had our medical done on June 29, 2004. She was
pregnant at that time, so x-ray were not done.
2. My baby was bron in Dec´04. We submitted my wife´s xray in Jan 2005.
3. We added my baby to the appication in Jan 05 and sent the baby´s
medical on March 12, 2005.
4. We haven´t heard anything back yet.
Now if we dont hear anything by June 29 2005, I guess my medical would
expire (I am the principal applicant).
a) Is it possible to get an extension on validity of medical tests for
my wife and I, in this situation (given that she was pregnant)?
b) What is the process to do that?
c) What is the liklehood of success in this?

There is nothing called extension on medical test. What will happen is that you most likely will be requested to re-do it.

I feel it will most likely depend on the visa officer. Am not sure if I am right.....but my understanding is that they have discretionary powers to extend validity of medicals beyond 1-year......if they feel the delay was from their side perhaps....
others might be able to confirm.

The visa officer can extend the validity of your medical by a couple of months but you can not request them to do that.
In cases like yours (where a new baby is expected) it is generally advised not to go ahead with the medical exam till the baby is born just to avoid the situation you are in. But dont worry you are in the last stage of the process and hopefully your process will be completed without going for the medical again.
